NCCER Your Role in the Green Environment
2-Day Training Course
(9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with 45 minute break for lunch)
COURSE OBJECTIVES
- Describe the major challenges to the green environment that are caused directly or indirectly by the built environment.
- Identify decisions and actions in your personal and work life that impact the green environment.
- Prioritize your actions in terms of which ones matter most for the green environment.
- Describe the life cycle phases of a building and the impacts on the green environment over its life cycle.
- Identify green alternatives to conventional building practices and describe the pros and cons of those alternatives.
- Identify specific practices you can implement at work to improve your impacts on the green environment.
- Describe the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating process.
- Identify construction activities that contribute to a project’s LEED rating.
- Identify common construction pitfalls that may affect a project’s LEED rating.
- Identify the LEED 2009 resources and tools that are used in managing LEED projects:
- Project Scorecard and Templates
- Construction Waste Management Strategy and Tracking
- Sustainable Materials and Resources Strategy and Tracking
- Construction Indoor Air Quality Management Plan

EXAM AND CREDENTIALS
- Exam is giving in the class by EcoPotential
- Participants earn NCCER credit for the class
- LEED AP’s and Green Associates earn 15 hours of continuing education under the Green Building Certification Institute’s (GBCI) Credentialing Maintenance Program
- Participants will be prepared to take Green Advantage exam to become Green Advantage Certified
- Participants will be given a Green Advantage study guide
(Participants should bring the latest copy of their water, gas, electric, sewer, and trash bills for calculating their footprints.)
