Waste Management Innovation Center

Ribbon cutting ceremony

Waste Management Innovation Center

There’s a new kid in town.  In September a large crowd attended a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Waste Management Innovation Center in Rogers, Arkansas.  The facility will “serve as a launching pad for businesses looking to improve their environmental performance.”

“This Sustainability Center is going to drive collaboration so that every idea comes together in a plan,” said David Steiner, president and chief executive officer for Waste Management.  ”That’s what we want, because when our customers are able to achieve their goals, that means we are doing our jobs right.”

Walking the talk of sustainability, the new Waste Management Innovation Center is pursuing LEED certification at the Gold level under the 2009 LEED for Commercial Interiors rating system.

EcoPotential enjoyed the opportunity to work with the Construction Manager, AK Enterprise of NWA, Inc. on their LEED construction deliverables such as construction waste recycling, sustainable materials tracking, subcontractor training and indoor air quality management.  With attention to detail, AK Enterprise of NWA, Inc was able to recycle or salvage 98% of the construction and demolition waste from the project.
